Advancing the Knowledge
Architecture of the Global South
Tapovan is a non-profit, interdisciplinary knowledge institution from Goa, India, working across science, society, governance, culture, environment and humanity — generating knowledge, connecting disciplines, informing policy and translating ideas into meaningful societal action.
A World at a Turning Point
Climate change. Artificial intelligence. Resource insecurity. Inequality. Migration. Conflict. Public health. Technological disruption. The challenges of our time cross borders and disciplines — they cannot be addressed by science alone, policy alone, or economics alone.
Tapovan seeks to connect knowledge with action — science with society, policy with practice, innovation with ethics, indigenous knowledge with contemporary research, and human development with human well-being.
Why Tapovan →The Global South
Not a periphery. A source of knowledge.
Select a region
The Global South is not merely a geographical category — it represents diverse civilisations, knowledge traditions, youthful societies, natural resources, innovation, resilience and lived experience. Tapovan works to strengthen the intellectual contribution, perspectives and agency of these societies in global discourse.
